For the first time in history, competitions among hearing-impaired people were held in 1924 in Paris, France. The Deaflympics also historicaly considered as the first international competition among people with disabilities.
For 100 years, the Deaflympics movement, which supports the integration of hearing-impaired people into the society and promotes equality, continues its activities under the slogan "Equality through sports".
The newly established Deaflympic Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan aims to attract hearing-impaired people into sports, bring them to the international level, and train professional athletes, coaches, and referees.
